Age of Sigmar - Neave & Vanguard Hunters

Neave & Vanguard Hunters

I'm painting through my Stormcast part of Blightwar box. I finished painting Neave and the hunters. I went a bit wild with fur patterns, hope you like them. I'm conservative with the golden paint schema, however I am trying to add more variation to the bases and play around putting minis on rocks/hills. I'm quite happy with the result, although for Neave I had to reglue her and add some reinforcement to the original foam hills, as she started to bend  forward. Also for the prime I think I could have left some more rock (cork) texture instead of covering everything with basing paste.

I also had a small accident with the prime and part of his cross-bow fell off and went missing... So I had to recreate it using green stuff. Can you spot which part is it :) ?

Imperial Assault - Loku, Jabba, HK Droids, Rancor

Star Wars incoming

I finished another batch of Imperial Assault miniatures. As usual I've been following Sorastro's video tutorials to do so.

I did however diverge from the tutorials on the HK Droids and took an approach presented by Vince Venturella in his Speed Painting with True Metals tutorial using Vallejo's Metal Color paints. I have to admit the quality of these paints really is fantastic and they look way more realistic than your standard GW metallics.

Also I'm very happy with the way how Rancor's base turned out. It was my first time using Water effects and I'm sure it's not the last. The only pain is drying time.

Age of Sigmar - Spire of Dawn - Skaven

More Rats

Today I present finished skaven from Spire of Dawn (AKA Island of Blood). You can find clanrats in the last update - here you'll find the remaining models.

This time around I didn't skip the highlights as I did with clanrats, so hopefully the results are a bit better. Overall the models were fun and simple to paint.

Age of Sigmar - Clanrats

Rat Cannon Fodder

After finishing a big chunk of my Stormcast Eternals army I turned my attention to my second army - Skaven. I started by painting the 40 clanrats from Spire of Dawn. I was aiming at more of a speedy painting processing given the amount of minis, but I think I landed somewhere in between normal/speed painting as they still consumed quite a lot of time :)

One thing that I did skip is highlights for the clothes, fur and teeth - I only did some basic ones for skin and a bit of dry brash for metallics. I also used Army Painters Quickshade to combine shading and first layer of varnish. All in all the processed looked like this:

  • Black primer
  • Zenithal highlights with white primer (which I probably could have skipped given that I then sprayed everything brown)
  • Airbrushed everything with brown (fur color)
  • Brush painted all the base colors
  • Highlighted skin and metallics
  • Applied Vallejo's brown earth on bases
  • Dry brushed the bases
  • Painted rim of base
  • Applied dark Quickshade to whole models
  • Painted second layer of base rim
  • Glued on some flock
  • Airbrushed with matt varnish
